Description
Even though many videogame fans were not even born when the series was first released, Konami has repackaged the original arcade versions of GRADIUS 3 & 4 and ported them to the PlayStation 2. The games are classic shooters, requiring a quick mind and even quicker trigger fingers. The graphics are a throwback to older times and less powerful machines, but shooters are meant for their blazing fast gameplay, which GRADIUS 3 & 4 delivers in spades. The first game in the re-release sports 2D sprites--the second contains some colorful 3D polygons that help spice up the environments. The controls are easy to learn and responsive; requirements in any game that demands so much raw speed, especially a shooter of this caliber. Though identical to their arcade releases and highly challenging, GRADIUS 3 & 4 delivers a play experience unmatched by most shooters, and is a welcome addition to the PlayStation 2’s roster.
