Of course, you’ll have to settle for traveling the city’s highways at mind-numbing speeds, as this is a racing game of the most extreme nature. Like former entries in the TOKYO XTREME RACER line, this version lets you choose your vehicle and perform all of the necessary tune-ups and alterations before entering the heated competition. There is a wide variety of racers to choose from, each with its individual strengths and shortcomings. The technical specs of the PlayStation 2 allow for quicker play and a longer list of opponents, making this the most complete TOKYO XTREME RACER title to date. They’ve mapped over 100 miles of actual Tokyo highway for this one; so don’t expect anything less than a realistic experience as far as the graphics are concerned. Play alone or against a friend in several challenging modes.
